Eco huts and double rooms with kitchenette, terrace and air conditioning in Bain Boeuf, northern Mauritius, with an on-site infinity pool and a lush garden.
See prices and availabilityBrahman Hut is a homestay on Allée Beau Manguier in Bain Boeuf, on the north coast of Mauritius. The hosts designed their eco huts for living in harmony with nature and keeping the environmental footprint of a holiday low: there are just five units, set in a lush garden with an infinity pool and sun loungers. Bain Boeuf Beach is about 8 minutes away on foot, and Cap Malheureux is close by.
Double rooms, bungalows and a villa each sleep two, in 45 to 54 m². All of them have air conditioning, a private entrance, a terrace with garden views, a private bathroom and a kitchenette with a microwave, an electric kettle and kitchenware, so you can cook for yourself whenever you like. The bungalows and the villa add a living room separate from the bedroom.
On the practical side, Wi-Fi is free throughout the property and parking is free on site. A paid airport shuttle and a car hire service make getting around easier, and the hosts speak English and French.

Brahman Hut has five units for two guests, and they share the same essentials: air conditioning and a fan, a private entrance, a terrace with garden views, an equipped kitchenette, a minibar, a safe, a desk and a private bathroom with shower and hairdryer.
What sets them apart is space and layout. The two double rooms are single open spaces: 54 m² for the Double Room with Private Bathroom and 45 m² for the Budget Double Room, whose private bathroom is located outside the room. The two 54 m² bungalows and the 45 m² villa keep the bedroom separate from the living room, and one of the bungalows adds a sofa bed.

At Brahman Hut, life happens outdoors: an infinity pool, sun loungers, a garden, a terrace, outdoor furniture and an outdoor dining area. Every unit has a kitchenette, a minibar and a tea and coffee maker, and several restaurants are a few hundred metres away.
For getting around, there is a paid airport shuttle and a car hire service, with free parking on site. Paid laundry, ironing, luggage storage and express check-in and check-out make the stay easier, Wi-Fi is free throughout, and there is 24-hour security.
Brahman Hut is on Allée Beau Manguier in Bain Boeuf, between Cap Malheureux and Grand Baie at the northern tip of Mauritius. Bain Boeuf Beach is about 400 m away, the beaches of Cap Malheureux and Pereybère are less than 2 km away, and several restaurants are within walking distance.
Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport is in the south-east of the island: allow a little over an hour by road, longer on weekdays at rush hour around Port Louis. The easiest option is the airport shuttle offered by the property, at extra charge, or a taxi booked in advance, especially for an evening arrival. There is no direct bus: line 198 runs to Port Louis, then line 215 heads north to Grand Baie, with the last departure around 17:00 and no service on Sundays. Remember to let the property know your arrival time, which should fall between 14:00 and 22:00.
Close by, Cap Malheureux and its red-roofed Notre-Dame Auxiliatrice chapel, facing Coin de Mire, are among the most photographed sights on the island; inside, the holy water basin is a giant clam shell. At Bain Boeuf, the view of Coin de Mire changes from sunrise to sunset; some stretches are rocky, so look for the sandy spots to swim. The lagoon is good for snorkelling and diving, and boat trips head out to Îlot Gabriel and Île Plate. Pereybère has clear water and a calm lagoon, while Grand Baie gathers restaurants, bars and shops. Further south, Château de Labourdonnais, L'Aventure du Sucre and the Pamplemousses botanical garden, with its giant water lilies, are each about a quarter of an hour away by car. From November to April the sea is warmer and calmer for snorkelling, with a risk of cyclones; from May to October the southern winter is milder.
